Alcohol-related glucose-dependent functional system of error processing

چکیده
Background Ridderinkhof and colleagues in 2002 [1] reported that moderate “acute” alcohol intake reduces the amplitude of the ‘error-related negativity, a negative deflection in the electroencephalogram associated with error commission in speeded response time tasks. Their work is however, subject to a great deal of criticism. To consider arrow flank tasks responses generally, as cognitive functions as a whole is practically non-informative and to say that blood alcohol concentration of 1.0 per mile is a moderate alcohol dose, when legally it is already intoxication is not correct. Ridderinkhof and colleagues were rather careful in analyzing their results. Their study own our respect since it showed that error commission is related to the functions of the monitoring response system in the mediofrontal brain. The mechanisms for Ridderinkhof’s and colleagues’ work was defined by Holroyd et al [2].

Mechanism of Alcohol Related Disruption of the Error Monitoring and Processing System
The error monitoring and processing system, EMPS is the system located in the substantia nigra of the midbrain, basal ganglia and cortex of the forebrain, and plays a leading role in error detection and correction. The main components of EMPS are the dopaminergic system and anterior cingulate cortex. Although, recent studies show that alcohol disrupts the EMPS, the ways in which alcohol affects...

Background: Current data suggest that alcohol might play significant role in error commission. Error commission is related to the functions of the Error Monitoring and Processing System (EMPS) located in the substantia nigra of the midbrain, basal ganglia and cortex of the forebrain. The main components of the EMPS are the dopaminergic system and anterior cingulate cortex. Although, recent data...
متن کاملEffect of Functional Fatigue on Landing Mechanics using Landing Error Scoring System (LESS)
One of the factors affecting jump-landing patterns is fatigue. Fatigue is an inevitable component of physical activity, hence the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of functional fatigue on landing mechanics through Landing Error Scoring System (LESS).Fourteen male college students with a mean age of 22±2 years, weight of 68.3±7.2 kg and height of 174±4 were randomly divi...
متن کاملEffect of brain structure, brain function, and brain connectivity on relapse in alcohol-dependent patients.
CONTEXT In alcohol-dependent patients, brain atrophy and functional brain activation elicited by alcohol-associated stimuli may predict relapse. However, to date, the interaction between both factors has not been studied. OBJECTIVE To determine whether results from structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging are associated with relapse in detoxified alcohol-dependent patients. DESI...

Background: One of the serious complications of type 1 diabetes is a sudden increase and drop in blood glucose levels causing risks of anesthesia and coma. Thus, an important step towards the optimal control of the disease is to use intelligent methods with low error rate and available information in order to predict and prevent such complications. In this paper, a combined Fuzzy SARSA algorith...
